Cropredy, UK 8/14/09
I've seen and heard you over the years on TV mainly, BUT having just seen your performance at Cropredy, my first proper visit, I was totally BLOWN AWAY by your set, and your daughter's voice enough to make an old rock man cry, thank you both for a truly wonderful experience
Thanks for a great night a Cropredy. Richards music is more than sounds and skill because it touches the soul
Cropredy awesome performances and earlier this year 1000 years of popular music tour so good. Looking forward to the next time live.
New Brighton, UK 8/13/09
Seen RT a lot in the last 30 odd years! But I had to drop a note to say how the New Brighton gig a couple of weeks ago was fantastic! Rt was stunning. Great arrangement of Brights Lights, and the way he sang the 'chains you refuse'... How come he just gets better and better?

Hi. Just had to write to say what a great time I had at Conkers on Friday. I'm so pleased I booked to go to that venue; nearly two hours of non-stop RT and an opportunity to see Swarb on the same night; terrific stuff! The short set as a duet was magical: one of those moments I guess I'm unlikely to see again in my lifetime. Thanks for an incredible evening.
Hi. I was at the concert here; incredible evening with Dave Swarbrick as well!
I was at your show at 'Conkers' at the National Forest Centre, last night (great venue to watch, very intimate and nice to be on the front row. Do you enjoy playing there?). I enjoyed the duet with Swarb on O'Carolan's 'Si Bheag Si Mhor', which is the first time I have ever heard you play it. Do you intend to record it at any time? (if you already have I must have missed it).

Also, I have often thought it would interesting to hear you do a take on Jay Unger's 'Ashokan Farewell'. I know it’s been covered a lot and some may think it a bit 'hackneyed' but it is a beautiful tune, what do you think? Also 'Jonny Mo Mhile Stor', (same comments from me).

Durham, UK 7/23/09
I saw Richard for the very manyth time last Thursday in Durham. It was a great show, the selection of tracks was outstanding and the guitar playing was, as always, brilliant. Its hard to pick out one particular track but Woods of Darnay was simply magnificent as was everything else actually.
I first discovered Richard Thompson whilst working away from home when one of my colleagues introduced me to his music and since then I've been fascinated.

Yesterday evening my wife and I saw Richard's acoustic tour in Durham - absolutely brilliant, and one comment from the audience summed it up. At the end of the show when Richard asked what he should play next, one member of the audience simply said "Just start again at the beginning" and if he had, I think we would have all stayed. I've played guitar since I was 15 and listening and watching Richard simply was fantastic - I can't wait for the transcriptions to be published. Please can someone record his acoustic tour!

The evening was a beautiful summers evening, Durham is a wonderful city and Richard's music and presence simply made it perfect.

It is my sincere hope that you will pass this onto Richard and convey our thanks for a really wonderful evening which will stay in our minds for a very long time.

Chesterfield, UK 7/22/09
Just to say a huge thank you to Richard for the best ever concert! I have enjoyed Richard's music for many years ( since early Fairport !!) and enjoyed many solo and band gigs. The Chesterfield gig stood out above all others! The sound was beautifully balanced and Richard performed a wide range of his songs with such passion, joy and humour. A brilliant start to our holiday!
Pontardawe, Wales, UK 7/20/09
Been listening to Richard's music for a long time, but saw him for the first time in Pontardawe last night. All i can say is 'AWSOME'! He was every bit as good, well better actually, than i ever expected. I was mesmorized! One cool dude! I love him.
I was there!!! Last night at Pontardawe was unbelievable, probably the best gig for sheer class and intimacy - just like a folk club really, standing close enough to see fingers in blurred movement - back to the 'drawing board! Thanks a lot really enjoyable.
Sacramento, CA 6/30/09
Thank you, Richard and Company, for last night at the 24th Street Theater. My wife, who recognizes good taste when in its company (hence her marriage to Yours Truly), and something of a musical critic, in her own mind, was impressed in a way I've not seen in the ten years I've known her... and we were in the front row, so that was nice, too.Truly brilliant and -- because it was the first opportunity we've had to see and hear Richard live -- never to be forgotten. But do better tonight, will you?
Hi Richard - Saw you in Sacramento, first night. Thanks again, it was amazing. Came back on night2 and bought a couple of your live cds... great memories.
Great show in Sacramento lat night and looking forward to tonight (not to mention next December at the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma). Thanks for the music, the stories and the inspiration through the years (39 of them with or without an official certificate!)
Laytonville, CA 6/28/09
Just had a great trip driving down to see the excellent show at the Kate Wolf festival where Kami Thompson appeared.
Santa Cruz, CA 6/27/09
Just saw Richard at the Rio last night in SC, and was moved, as always, to laughter (a lot this concert) and tears -- and sat with friends in a state of simple joy through it all as I always do when I go to an RT concert. Thank you, Richard, for the hug (how very un-English), for sticking around to meet us fans, for signing cd's .... je ne peux pas te parler en latin dans une robe de satin, mais je pourais le faire en francais, espanol, ou meme chinois .... et j'aimerais bien avoir la chance un grand jour!
I saw Richard in Santa Cruz, Ca. last weekend in Santa Cruz, Ca. Of course, it was all amazing.
Nelsonville, OH 6/13/09
Dear Richard, We just saw you last night in Nelsonville. Thank you so much for coming to Ohio! We love you and your music so much! I have a question for you: If Elvis is "The King" and Aretha is "The Queen of Soul" and Nick Lowe is "The Jesus of Cool" then what is your official title? I've heard you refered to as "The British Bob Dylan" but I'm sure there is a more appropriate title for you. What are your thoughts on this matter? :)
Thanks so much for a great show at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio on June 13.
Saw Richard at the Nelsonville show. Great! Can't believe I've overlooked him all these years.
Kent, OH 6/12/09
I saw Richard Thompson at the Kent Stage (Kent, Ohio) on June 12, 2009. It was a solo act and he appeared on the stage in blue jeans, a royal blue long sleeve shirt and his trademark beret. He played his Lowden acoustic guitar. He was in fine form talking a lot, much of it tongue in cheek but with the inevitable pearl of truth floating somewhere. Thompson is a highly intelligent lyricist and many of his songs deal with real lives with an ominous twist or sense of foreboding always lurking. He opened with I Feel So Good (I'm gonna break somebody's heart tonight). A few of his songs were about war and he superbly played the emotional Woods of Darney and Dad's Gonna Kill Me. His rendition of 1952 Vincent Black Lightning was absolutely phenomenal. His extended lead break was out of this world and I have seldom heard such brilliant acoustic guitar playing. He plays with a pick between his thumb and index finger and plucks with the remaining fingers. This was a treat par excellence of sophisticated guitar playing that is seldom heard. Other songs he played include I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight, Keep Your Distance, Crawl Back, the ominous Hope You Like the New Me, The Sun Never Shines on the Poor, Valerie, Johnny's Far Away, and the highly amusing The Hots for the Smarts. He ended his show with a few songs including Beeswing and Dimming of the Day. There were 2 encores.
Oh my! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Last night in Kent (Ohio, U.S.A.) was so excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening. You treated us so well. The BEST! Thank you for the encores. You are a fine balladeer, rocker, and guitar picker.
I really enjoyed your concert in Kent Ohio. You do us "old guys" proud
State College, PA 6/10/09
Bravo! What an amazing show with so many talented performers! Great music! Great laughs! Loved Judith Owen's performance! Well worth the four-hour trip to State College from Cleveland. Richard, will you come to my fantasy graduation party on Sunday after your Saturday performance at Athens, OH?
Santa Monica, CA 6/06/09
First time I saw him live was yesterday at the Acoustic Music Festival in Santa Monica. SO INCREDIBLE!
