Thank you for the great concert in Helsinki this evening. I enjoyed your music very much. I would have enjoyed even more with a bit less volume: for me the clarity of music is the main thing. My impression is, that we lost a lot of details this evening, and that is a pity as in your music there´s a lot! Best regards |

Thank you for the great gig last night in Helsinki. I'm still amazed!! It's great how your acoustic playing is so powerful. I never thought that solo gig could be so fulfilling. I don't have anything to ask at the moment. Just wanted to tell you what a great show it was and hope you come back soon. Best regards |

I saw you at "Urkult", which by the way is an anagram for Kultur (swe) = Culture. Anyway, I was extremely impressed by your presentation. I stood somewhere quite near the stage, (grey-bearded like U), trying to catch you with my cam, but I was too moved by the music and lyrics to get it right. My daughter, however, managed to get some excellent snapshots with her dig cam. I really appreciated the political comments between the songs, but at the same time you were really funny - in a very British way - which I also like. RT, it was a truly magic afternoon for a lot of us. I had planned to go to Uppsala and "Katalin", but I had to work that night, but I gather the performance at Urkult was quite as good. So thanks a lot for your excellent music and voice and I hope to see you somewhere in Sweden another time. Best regards from Sweden |

Thanks a lot! I saw RT at URKULT in Sweden 2 days ago, I'm still burning inside. |

What a great concert! This man is simply one of our world's wonders. Genius is a word that does not entirely catch the essence of this remarkable man. He's more. He masters the guitar in an otherwordly way, he keeps on writing songs that each and every one is a gift to humanity. Needless to say, the gig was an all-out success and twice I had to overcome the tears that the songs wanted. Since this was Richard's first gig in Sweden in 7 years, tell him that we swedes won't allow him skippimg us next year, and that we expect him back next summer. What a man! What a man! How fortunate we are to be living in his lifetime! What a man! |

It was great meeting Richard at the Trowbridge Festival and an honour to have to been able to have compared him on and off of the stage. Thanks. |

Brampton, UK 07/20/08
|
We were on holiday in the UK in July and took the opportunity to see Richard Thompson performing at Brampton. It was a marvellous performance, and of a generous length. Given that we don't get to see Mr Thompson in our neck of the woods, and given the depth of his catalog of songs, we were very pleased that he gave a performance that must have been nearly 2 hours when you factor the encores in. We particularly enjoyed the Sandy Denny tribute towards the end of his set, that was very moving, but that was by no means the only high point. Marvellous songs, great guitar playing, an engaging stage presence - all that adds up to a substantial, moving and very enjoyable show. Many thanks |

"The best concert we have ever seen" is a sentence we have used more than a few times in the last week. At the end of our 460 mile round trip from Richmond IN to Ann Arbor MI it was 2.30 on Tuesday morning but we were unable to go to sleep until 5. Between us we have seen a few good acts when we lived in England: U2, David Bowie, Prince, Genesis to name but a few. However we have never been "blown away" like we were Monday. For my sins I have played guitar and sung for over 30 years but after your first two songs I turned to my wife (who was sitting there with open eyes and mouth) and said "maybe I should just leave my guitar in the case for now". Actually with your excellent technique and probing intricate lyrics you have made me even more inspired to play: I've already wrote 3 songs since then!!!! Just a note to say thank you: I really wished I'd have shouted out the next word in the sequence after "twot" but I didn't really want to draw attention to myself (unlike the guy we named "Colin" sitting in front of us by the stage left). Wish we could get to England to see you in one of the folk festivals this summer but at present immigration will not allow it. Anyway look forward to seeing you again soon.

Hello, It was such a delight to finally have the opportunity to see you perform live at the Ottawa Bluesfest. It is impossible to describe how much your music and lyrics have affected and influenced my life in just a few simple words. So let me just sincerely say "Thank you". |

|
I've been a fan for years, but saw you for the first time last week at Bluesfest in Ottawa. It was fantastic and inspiring. Hope to see you again soon. |

The audience was bigger and more receptive than I expected, and Richard was great, despite having to compete with Dweezil Zappa on a nearby stage! Many highlights in another show to remember.

Richard, Just saw you at the Ottawa Bluesfest last night. Terrific show as usual and professional as usual especially given the sound drifting over from Son of Zappa's show on the next stage. Hope Bluesfest management apologized to you for the setup. Although annoying, we could hear you loud & clear. |

Such talent!!! Thank you for coming to Lowell...it was truly a pleasure to see you in person. My 1st but not last time! Imagine that! The song that made me cry was 'Dad's Gonna Kill Me'....it truly brought tears. You are a wonderful entertainer, superb guitarist and seem to be a genunine 'regular' guy. Wish you nothing but good health and many more years of bringing your music to us! Looking forward to seeing you in Newburyport !!!! |

Grateful for Lowell! Richard, it was a privilege to be a part of your audience 6-28. I was very moved by 'Who Knows Where the Time Goes'. Your guitar tone and voice were incredibly beautiful Saturday night. As a member of "Section C" , I want you to know how much I appreciated the time you spent signing autographs, kissing ladies (or at least me) and chatting. I did intend to ask you about the guitar you were playing and the digital loops you used, but I’ll wait until your next MA concert. Thank you for being so incredibly gracious Saturday night, particularly while my loony friend bartered for your hat! Warmest wishes for an enjoyable, inspiring, and hopefully warmer, tour! |

As a newly-minted fan, only recently awakened to your music, I (and a thousand other folks of all ages) were enthralled by your show in Lowell, MA. With wit and artistry, you held everyone captive at Boardinghouse Park last night. Phenomenal picking, fabulous vocals, and a great set list ranging from thought-provoking and introspective to hilarious and optimistic, we loved everything you laid on us. Come back soon!!! (And we will certainly start whittling away at the 82,000 copies of the last album that you are "selfishly" stockpiling in the warehouse. |

A transporting experience in Lowell, Massachusetts, last night - thank you so much! What IS that wonderful instrument you played? Looked like a Taylor Grand Concert from my vantage point, but I wasn't close enough to be sure. Sounded like two or three guitars, but of course that's you. Fill me in? Many thanks for an exhilarating evening--well worth the six hour drive up from Jersey (New Jersey, that is). |

Just saw RT live at the Botanic Gardens last week, with Louden Wainwright. Best show I've seen in years. You were great, and finishing w/ Dimming!!!!!!!!! |

I just returned from the Denver Botanic Gardens concert and having seen you many times, Richard, it is always a wonderful evening, but I swear you played Bees Wing just for me, at my request... and I have never heard it live before... thank you with all my heart! Your music touches my soul... |

What a night at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The DBG is a different venue than I have ever seen RT, especially since the audience included picnickers, children running amok, and other "casual fans" that I am not accustomed to seeing at an RT show. I am more used to the ardent kind who go home to check RT's website for the latest postings. So I was happy to see that RT appeared to be having as good time as we were last night. He finished by saying that the Denver Botanic Gardens was "sincerely one of his favorite venues in the world to play." And because he said "sincerely," it must be true. So, take note, RT fans: sometimes you can relax, enjoy the sunset, the green grass, and just take in a great show. RT can deliver on that level, too! |

I have just seen Richard live at the Royal Festival Hall (24 May) and want to record my appreciation and thanks for a wonderful evening. It's prompted what I believe is my first ever piece of fan mail! I first saw Richard (and Linda) live at Birmingham (England) Town Hall in the 70's (at the time of Hokey Pokey release) and have been a fan since. After that first gig I rushed out the next day and bought 'Bright Lights' and it still sits, on a shelf in the living room very scratched and worn out). |

Really enjoyed RFH gig on Saturday - time just flew by - loved your daughter's guest spot too - could go back tomorrow and repeat the experience - you are in great nick, man. By the way, I'm one of the Smarts (I wish). |
|
|
|
Recently had the privilege to see you perform at the Royal Festival Hall (24 May) - I was too shy to shout for 'The Ghost of You Walks' but really ecstatic to hear the 'Woods at Darney'. Your daughter Kami was fantastic. My question is, when did you change the words in Cold Kisses from 'a Margaret Miller mystery' to 'a Dan Brown mystery' and have you read Dan Brown.

|
Having seen RT at the Round House recently with the band (hope the version of Hard on Me finds its way to a live cd soon, by the way) it was great to see him at the RFH last week. I hope Richard enjoyed performing as much as we enjoyed the gig. I was impressed by the way he indulged the shouts of 'Persusion' and ' Beeswing' - a nice way to bridge the big spaces at the RFH. Having said that, I'd have preferred to hear 'My Sweetheart's on the Barricade', but was too far back to yell without feeling like a tw*t (didn't stop the bloke behind me apparently coming on the spot at the first bars of Beeswing). |

I just want to say a big THANK YOU to Mr. Thompson for his concert in Oslo, Norway, last friday night. We were four friends, travelling from Aalesund, on the west coast of Norway, to Oslo, to see OUR MAN in action. And did he deliver? YESSSSS!!!!! We´ve seen him many times before, both here in Norway, and in England, and he has yet to diasappoint us. So we hope that he will keep making records and tour for many years to come, as he is the best artist that has put his or her feet, on a music stage, EVER! |

Milan, Italy 05/12/08

Me and my girlfriend saw Richard last Monday in Milano. Great! One of the best guitarists ever...and what a songwriter! And he was a real gentleman after the show too, reaching for his fans who were waiting for him, posing for pictures and signing anything. But...who's better between Gina Lollobrigida and Monica Bellucci ( Richard & Danny, remember? ) |
|
|
|
I have had that honour to see you with the band in Milano. Show was the best I've ever seen. |

Saw you at No Jazz Fest...awesome! |

Hey, Mr. T,
No question, just thanks for your splendid performance at Jazzfest. I had the pleasure of hearing you and - unless I'm mistaken - seeing you the next day at Gumbo Shop. I showed restraint and left you to enjoy your gumbo and beer in peace. Hope you come back to the States sometime soon. Till then, many thanks and cheers!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed your set and interview at Jazz Fest. I've been a fan since I first heard "When the Spell is Broken," but I never thought I would get to see or hear you live. Thank you for your performance and interview. |
