Hi I went to see Richard at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool last week and he was great. I would certainly go again if he ever plays Liverpool |

My wife and I saw Richard and band last Friday at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Wonderful concert with excellent support act too, thanks for a memorable evening. Afterwards, as we walked back along Hope Street to the car, my wife turned to me and said "He didn't do Copperhead Road" |

Liverpool, 26th Oct 2007: fantastic, as usual. I expect he'll eventually start to disappoint, which will be a great relief to us lesser talents. As it was, I felt compelled to say (loudly) at the end that RT is a notorious show off and that my version of tear stained letter is better because it's more economical and Cropperesque. This was taken to be a joke by those around me. But Jeez, isn't the audience getting old? This must be a worry to RT, as dead people don't buy CDs. Even the proposterous habit of writing ever better songs won't rescue you from this, smartarse. But I like to be helpful, so I can give you a list of gigs where you can discretely stand at the back and learn how to introduce a little more humility into your guitar licks. See you next time. |

My husband and I have just been to see you play at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. Wow. You were amazing. What soul you have, all of your band included. Modern bands just don't get it do they!!!! Keep on rocking!!!! Thank you!!!!! |

I was hugely privileged to be in the front row at Cambridge last night to see RT and the band at the peak of their very considerable powers. I've been starved of music for the last several months as I have been having problems with my hearing that have needed an operation and all kinds of fuss. Yesterday my consultant removed the bandages from my left ear, giving me stereo for the first time in ages and I headed straight to the concert to enjoy some music for the first time in far too long. It was a simply stunning set - one of the best gigs I've ever been to - and I was simply blown away. I still have the smile on my face this morning. So, just a simple thanks to RT for a great, great night - what a generous and engaging band of musicians he leads. |

I first encountered Richard's playing as an 18 year old - listening to Liege & Lief and that album opened my mind to British folk-rock. I didn't see either Fairport or Richard in concert until many years later, but for a decade I have considered Richard my favourite live performer. Like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, he has been around a long while and yet still has fresh ideas. I have seen RT twice since he released his latest album Sweet Warrior and at both Guilfest and Basingstoke, tracks from that album proved just as popular as his back catalogue - indeed anybody who has seen him for the first time on this tour would expect Dad's gonna kill me to be a long-standing favourite. Diana Jones was the well-appointed support and fitted well into the melancholic mood of many of Richard's songs. Richard played to a packed house and with energetic and ever-fresh performances like that, he will carry on doing so for as long as he cares to. |

Many thanks for all concerned for another fantastic show at The Colston Hall last night! His rendition of Sandy's "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" was beautiful and a particular highlight. I'm now in double figures as far as seeing our Richard live and he really does get better and more passionate with each performance - his immense talent really puts into perspective the X-Factor and it's pretty poor participants! By the way, that is one fab drummer! Best of luck for the rest of the tour. |

Awesome gig at the Roundhouse. Wish I'd caught Mr T. in concert before |

Saw Richard for the first time at The Roundhouse, Camden in London. One of the most enjoyable gigs I'v been too. I left wanting to hear and see more of him. Brilliant. |

I was at the RT Band gig at the Roundhouse in Camden on 20th October. 4 extrordinary musicians - RT and the guys were so tight - giving it heaps of wellie!! (My girlfriend wanted to elope with the drummer!) Some intriguing dips into the back catalogue and the new stuff from Sweet Warrior focussing this time, perhaps, on skill, power and playfulness. Amazing to step out of the venue, dazed with the brilliance and generosity of the performance into the 'scenes from Hogarth' vision of Camden on a Saturday night. Come back soon RT - sanity is in otherwise short supply round here. |

Saw you live at the Roundhouse last night didnt know that much about you musically but a great performance loved the banter with the audience one guy in the front row was too enthusiastic though! Great to see a musician with a smile on his face obviously enjoying what he does. |

CONCERT 20/10/2007 - I loved your concert; in fact I was the guy that praised Teddy's new country album, and appreciated everything that you did, badgering you to perform Mingulay Boat Song, and getting the year of the Blitz correct. One burning question remains though: how come Tear Stained Letter has never been sent to your hero, Jerry Lee Lewis ? I own Last Man Standing, his album of duets, and feel that a Jerry Lee version of Tear Stained Letter would be amazing, with you, yourself, playing guitar.

Went to the show on Saturday and loved it - thanks to everyone, but...(and there's always one), I thought the sound wasn't very good - not a good balance and rather distorted. It didn't stop me enjoying the music though. Rather a contrast with The Brook in Southampton a few weeks ago. It's much smaller and more intimate of course, but I thought the sound there was very good - balance, volume, everything. Sorry if it sounds like a moan - I put it down to the Roundhouse - not my favourite place.

During Richard's autograph-signing session at Cropredy in August, I asked him if he would play Who Knows Where The Time Goes at the Roundhouse (London) show in October. He did not commit himself, and said, "We'll see." I have no idea if my request had any influence on Saturday night's setlist, but many thanks for playing it! It was a special moment in a great show.

Great set at the Roundhouse on Saturday night! Danny, Pete and Michael all on top form too. Nice to see a longer set and some songs that didn't make it into the set at Cropredy. The dance numbers seemed to be a highlight; Bad Monkey has the potential to be another Tear-Stained Letter.

Just seen Richard at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and it was one of the finest Gigs I've been to, and I've been to many! |

Saw my first concert at Manchester Bridgewater Hall and was knocked out. Now scanning for other venues, maybe the states ! |

I've just had yet another great evenings entertainment in Manchester (19 Oct 2007). I am always amazed. Truly legendary and the band too Michael, Danny and Pete. Thanks to all. |
|
|
|
Great to see you in Manchester last Friday - first time I've seen you live since your time with Fairport - hopefully won't leave it so long until I see you next! |
|
|
|
Went to Bridgewater Hall on Friday night. I know that everybody in the band was brilliant but in the gallery it just sounded like a loud mush. I could hardly hear a word sung. Even the acoustic numbers were so badly mixed as to be an insult. The concert should have been brilliant but it ended up the worst sound mix I've ever heard. Sack the knob twiddler!! I was devastated.

Went to the Leeds Irish Centre Gig last night and have to say that R.T just gets better and better. Hope that he enjoyed it as much as his audience did. |

Was at the Glasgow gig last night. Blinder ! People always (and quite rightly) say how impressed they are with RT's playing. I'd like to pay tribute here though to Pete Zorn. His all round musicianship including his understated but highly effective vocals is nothing short of stunning.

Concert The Hague: It was a very beautiful concert. The spirit , the love for music you all express in the music is a total pleasure to see and listen at. We still listen to your CD's at home as a kind of memory to try to get the feeling back as the music was life but it is just a small part of the emotion we had last Thursday evening. We wish you a good tour and I am also a bit jealous to think about the fun and fine feeling poeple can have when they reach such a level in music and travel together through the world. I cannot imagine a world without music. Good luck.

Mister Thompson,I know you thanks to "Liege and Lief" and to "(Guitar, vocal)" (with that irresistible "Poor Willl and the Jolly Hangman").You were so marvellous these month in Bruges.I was there with a friend who's following and enjoying your music for a longtime. After the concert he lended me "More guitar", my God, thank you for playing the guitar!

A day after his gig in Amsterdam Richard Thompson performed at the town theatre in Bruges, Belgium. I saw performances of Thompson in the past, but this gig was very near to perfection. Highlights were 'Dad is gonna kill me' and a breathtaking version of 'Hard on'. I'm a teacher and the song 'Dad is gonna kill me' is now part of my 'political song' course. Great text, great music. And as you all know Richard is very witty and entertaining . 'I will sing some of my classic hits', euh hits, mm, I never had one I think'. Well Richard we don't need hits. We need outstanding music and this is what you gave us. Thank you for a marvellous evening.

Brussels, Belgium 10/08/07 |
Saw RT & Band in AB, Brussels yesterday - my 6th RT gig. As always it was a top performance from RT and that fantastic rhythm section (Michael & Danny - best in the business !), not to forget multifunctional Pete Zorn. Many thanks. Btw, my 16 year old son must've been the youngest in the audience and he enjoyed it as much as I did !

Dear Pete, Michael, Danny & Richard,
