I just had to write to say how much I enjoyed your concerts last week at Montalvo. I went on Saturday and Sunday nights. Although I've been to your concerts for donkeys years - I thought the concert on Saturday night was superb. I enjoyed the "all request" format last year as well but for some reason it was even better this year. The sound was just phenomenal - I felt as if I was in a house concert. I enjoyed Sunday as well, my field is Occupational Diseases so I particularly appreciated the working and protest songs. Any plans to come back to The Fillmore any time soon? |

Hi Richard....Let me get the I-love-your-music-you're-awesome sucking up part out of the way first. Done with that. Caught your show at the Mystic in Petaluma and also the Saturday night request show at Montalvo. My 11 year old Grandson was with me at Montalvo (second time for him) and I can't thank you enough for your kindness to him. You are, in his words, his 'idol' and you were very cool with him. He will never forget it and neither will I. You are a nice man, Mr. Thompson.....oh that's more fawning and sucking up isn't it? So, any chance the Montalvo shows were recorded this last time? |

I have seen Richard Thompson many times at our Folk festival but WOW the show he did Dec. 5 was amazing. Thank you so much for all the great tunes especially my personal favorite Vincent Black Lightning. We attempt to sing it every year at my families Solstice celebration, next year I’ll bring the words that I just printed and we will get through the whole thing without hesitation. Thanks again for the great show, Happy Holidays |

Saw the show in Winnipeg December/5/2008. First time I saw R.Thompson. Once heard (secondhand) he was an arrogant chap, but this did not srtike myself as such. Seemed like an affable chap on stage, kinda reminded myself of Pete Townsend - with the E. London accent, and mannerisms. Though I suspect R.T, is more solid of character - whence called upon. Regarding playing: I actually heard a 'Beatles influence', in the way RT strums his guitar - with authority, and distinction. Many other influences, as well. Good picker, great chords, different tones with capo, interesting lyrics, and solid vocals. Altogether an entertaining 'one man acoustical band'. Left poster of canadian guitarist (recently deceased) Jeff Healey at the signature table. Thanks for comin' to Winterpeg! Actually commuted 400km round-trip to see the show. Still a fun trip. |

It was a long six months waiting for the rescheduled State College, Pennsylvania show but it finally arrived and what a great time we had. An incredible line up of songs- especially hearing an acoustic "Shoot Out The Lights" was worth the three and a half hour drive over the snowy Allegheny mountains. Richard Thompson was very gracious and pleasant after the show to take time for a CD signing and photo. Once again Mary Ann couldn't keep her hands off. Looking forward to whenever the next show will be in this region. |

I saw Richard in concert last night in Princeton. Hearing him play guitar always amazes me, but to see him play in person blew me away! Please thank him for a great concert experience.

Just got home after seeing RT at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro, VT last night (10/26/08). I've been a fan for quite a few years, and this show was without a doubt one of the best I've seen. The songs were beautifully performed, emotionally charged and his guitar work exceeded my (already high) expectations. I especially enjoyed Hope You Like the New Me , which I had never heard him perform live before, and his solo arrangement of Shoot Out The Lights. I look forward to RT's next visit to Vermont. |

The show in Brattleboro was a rousing success. Richard was in fine form and I brought two newbies who were bowled over by the music and the man. Simon did another great job of showcasing the songs in the most advantageous fashion. Please come closer to Connecticut next time through so I don't have to travel so far. All said and done, the trip was worth it. |

I saw the Bardavon show and the Great Barrington show.....I'll be charged for a month......wish it wasn't so long before a return to the east coast......( or that I had the cash to fly out and see the Dec. 14th show.....sounds amazing...it should be a live broadcast on election night.....hmmmmm) I was wondering if you ever play NYC, or have heard of the Warner Theatre in Torrington CT..It's a beautifully restored theatre much like the two fore-mentioned venues .......and it would give the hungry east coast listeners a few more opportunities to exhibit their groupie-like bee-haviors........just thought i'd throw it out there.... |

I only got into Richard Thompson's music within the last few years and have seen him a few times now. Most recently at Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie this past week (with the whole family). Another great show!

I was in the audience last Thursday night when you played at the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie NY. Honestly I had never heard your music before, and believe it or not, I never even heard of you. Not that this matters. I was interested in attending when I read the write-up about you that I received from the Bardavon promoting the show, so I bought tickets for me and a buddy. My email is simply to thank you for your performance. I greatly enjoyed your music and your songs. I went to your site to get more and have watched your u-tube recordings. You're blessed with such a fantastic talent and clearly you've worked extraordinarily hard. I am glad I 'met you' so to speak.

Well, the postponed April concert was certainly well worth waiting for! Richard was in TOP form. Terri had never heard him do a solo acoustic and was Very Impressed! She wondered how he could make that Lowden sound like a full band?!! We were Both WOWED!! the set selection was Incredible and Very moving! The Bardavon is a Beautiful theatre...a bit of a drive for us...But...What More could you ask for? It was Great to speak with RT after the show again. An honor & privelege. He is always so gracious and seems like an old friend by now. His scorpion bite had no ill effect for sure as he explained to Terri while signing her CD with that right hand!! We were sure 'Star Struck' again as we headed for the long drive home... Again, Thank You Beekeeper for the 'Heads Up' on the Tickets and a Great Time!!

Many's the time I caught your concerts when I lived in Albany, NY (working for Pharaoh)--either at the EGG or the Troy Music Hall, but last night has refreshed my soul as the ghosts--all the living to come, all the dead long gone-- THOSE others lifted from the depths to swell the hungry throng. Last night, too, here in Rochester, was the first time my wife and daughter (10 years young) got a chance to see what really happens when it really happens! Because my two got to hear how every note can bend to make a living thing, I am for always grateful. |

Richard melted my face with his guitar. It was my first live show seeing him, but I've been a fan for about 15 years. The "acoustic" solo versions of a few of my favorite songs from Sweet Warrior were just as strong as the studio versions with the band, even though he had no one playing along his side. My favorite song was "Sunset Song", it was played with such intensity, the second the last note rang, the crowd went wild. 1952 Vincent Black Lightning was great too. Richard, thanks for making it out to rainy, dreary Rochester NY, the whole day I was thinking "what a dismal sort of day, but don't worry, I've got Richard at the end of the day". I will definitely make whatever the drive is to see you on your next tour! Two thumbs up! One other comment, the dynamic range and variation in sounds that Richard can make with his one little guitar are simply mind boggling. Young musicians take note! |

South Portland, ME 10/17/08

I've enjoyed seeing Richard play live around a dozen times in the last 15 years, and have never been disappointed. His performance in South Portland (or "SoPo" as we locals like to call it) was extraordinary. The show was one of the rescheduled shows originally planned for last Spring and delayed by RT's encounter with a scorpion in Mexico. It was well worth the wait. Playing in a lovely auditorium at South Portland High School, Richard dazzled both his old fans and new fans alike with some incredible guitar pyrotechnics as he played an assortment of old and not-so-old favorites. After opening with "Misunderstood," highlights included "Wall of Death," "Persuasion," "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," "Dad's Gonna Kill Me," and a heart-wrenching "From Galway to Graceland." Richard was quite willing to play requests from the audience, including a stunning first encore of "Beeswing" that I will never forget. Thank you, Richard, for making the Portland, Maine area a regular stop on your tours around the U.S.A.

I have seen you in concert about a dozen times in the last 15 years and recently caught you at the tiny little barn in Wolfeboro NH. I was wondering what your thoughts on that experience were. Unheated barn in NH in October, a rather "reserved" crowd, and your own personal porta-pottie! It was a great show, as usual, but quite a unique setting.

Last week I was listening to Capitol Years and thought to Google your tour dates and had to buy a ticket for your concert in the Muddy Barn in Wolfeboro, NH. Thank you for playing so many of the songs that I know and love. I was so happy to hear Sandy Denny's/ Judi Collins song it was hard to restrain myself from piping in with you, but I thought of my tablemates and kept quiet. Thank you for being a brave artist and for your truth and passion. I am working on a new life after 20 years of marriage, country life with two children and a recently deceased dog. I am a painter and a teacher. This summer I bought a guitar to play and want you to know that you humble and inspire me as an artist. When will you play with a band in the area with a dance floor? |

Richard- I saw you perform at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass yesterday. I didn't catch the beginning of the show but I could hear your music as I approached trough the trees, just like a Hollywood script. You put on a great show!
